Great Tractor For The Money

"This tractor is a workhorse. If I had to do it again, I would have looked a little harder for the four-wheel drive model (YM1500D), but even without four-wheel drive it still does almost everything I ask of it. I use it to: Remove snow (with a front mounted blade or rear mounted snowblower) Landscape (grader blade, rake, box blade) Till (single blade bottom plow and potato plow) Brush hog (four foot rotary cutter) Mow ten acres a week (five foot finish mower) I also use it with a small wagon to give hayrides in the fall. I am currently building a loader for the tractor. If you don't have a loader installed be sure to add plenty of weight to the front end if you are using heavy attachments. In five years the only things I have replaced other then normal maintenance items are a PTO seal, the radiator, one lift arm on the 3PH, and the thermostart coil. I'm 6'1", and the seating is a little tight, but not uncomfortably tight. When I first bought the tractor it was difficult to get on and off, but I've pretty much mastered it now and it doesn't bother me so much any more. I get most of my replacement parts from Hoye Tractors in Texas, and I am going to be adding their custom made heavier front axle when I get the loader finished. "

"My dad traded a load of wood for this machine. I remember laughing on the inside because it is so small, the rear tire lugs are so big, and I felt like a bear riding a tricycle on it. He only used it to pull his wood splitter around. Once he passed, I did wood for a year and saw how strong this tiny tractor was. I hauled huge loads of wood with it, bush hogged with it, and built some plows for it. Now I have my own 10 acres and need something bigger with a FEL. It still doesn't back down though. I'll take a few days to mow it all. Make food plots etc. an awesome little machine!"

"Had tractor for 10 years had starter rebuilt and radiator flushed in 2003-4. replaced battery in 2009 replace right front tire, replaced PTO seal last year (operator error). Running oil pressure 45 to 55 psi. Try to change oil and filter every year. I've put about 200 hrs on tractor. Summer running temp is about 210 to 220 degs. Got the tractor, trailer, bushhog, tiller, and box scrap in a package deal for $4,200 in 2003."

"I bought this tractor with a loader from another homeowner. I added a McConnell backhoe two years later. In the time I have owned it I put on about 120 hours. To date I have had no issues at all. I buy my maintenance parts from Hoyetractor.com. The tractor performs very well, uses almost no fuel, and does a lot of work for 18 HP. I recently put on turf tires purchased from Hoye."

"Great little tractor for light loader work, slashing grass(4' slasher) and road grading blade(5')am looking for PTO driven post hole digger to redo fences on 3.1 acres. Power is good, great range of speeds for all work.found 3 rib tires useless in mud, replaced with R1 ag's for vast improvement even though it is only 2WD. good size to get into tight places but not for a tall or larger framed person (luckily i am built like a japanese farmer!) uses minimal amount of diesel even running at 2400 rpm for 5 hrs straight. full set of gauges is a must on any thermosyphon tractor in my opinion."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: agile, light and nimble Cons: too light for heavier loader work that it can lift. Type of User: Homeowner 1-10 Acres Location: AUS OT I also considered buying: Yanmar 146

"This is a Yanmar 1500D that i purchased about two years ago for $5,000 with the FEL. I do believe that it is a Vietnam reman but i have to say that i have had zero problems with it. I have been through the whole tractor.....changing all fluids....pulled brakes apart....flushed cooling system...installed new fuse block...it looks almost like a new tractor. I cant believe what this little tractor can do....I would put it up against any 15-20HP tractor. "

Pros: Easy on fuel. Compact size, Very dependable Cons: Alittle tight in the seating area. Type of User: Homeowner 50-100 Acres Location: USA MA I also considered buying: Yanmar 2000D
