Model year: 1979 Date Purchased: 2010-11-11 Number of Hours: 60

"Purchased with ROPS and FEL, this machine has been an incredible value for our small farm operation. Starts every time, even in the colder days that we had last winter. FEL has good lift capacity (full buckets of gravel - fence pulling - etc.). Routine service is very straight forward (oil change, filters, hydraulic fluid, screen, clutch adjustment, all in the tradition of earlier U.S. tractors of the 40s and 50s. A set of metric tools is all you need."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Value, reliability, features, ease of service. Cons: Noise, narrow track = easy roll over, will overheat on heavy workload. Type of User: Commercial Farmer Location: USA SC I also considered buying:

"I haven't had a chance to actually use the tractor to it's full potential but I am very satisfied with it so far. The tractor is in excellent condition and hopefully the performance will be excellent also."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Just a good all round tractor. Cons: Engine lives up to it's nickname, it pounds like a "hammer". Type of User: Homeowner 1-10 Acres Location: USA AL I also considered buying: Kubota B1750

Model year: 1977 Date Purchased: 2010-10-16 Number of Hours: 68

"I was looking for a 20-30 HP 4x4 with a FEL (isn't everybody?). Settled on this Yanmar based on price and it's condition. It starts every time, even below freezing using the thermostat (once I learned the technique). The only limitation I have had is how much weight I can lift with the FEL. No problem using it as a loader, just trying to use it to lift heavy obects, pull fenceposts, etc. Another note - this tractor is LOUD - hearing protection is a must. Comparing mine against a friend's brand new Kubota BX25, I noticed his is quieter, smoother, easier to handle (hydrostatic), but it cost more than 3X , and the Yanmar easily outworks it. My friend actually traded up for a bigger model (B2630?) after about a year. So if you don't mind an old-school, reliable, loud tractor that drives like a tractor, not a car, don't be afraid of an old Yanmar. A note on gray market - no local dealer seemed to want to deal with getting parts for it since it's not a US model, but I do my own work and it's super simple. I use online sites like Hoye and Yanmar Parts Online, with no problems so far."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Cheap, powerful, reliable, simple. Cons: LOUD, grey market. Type of User: Homeowner 1-10 Acres Location: USA OR I also considered buying: Ford 1710, Kubota B2620
