"I have owned this little guy for 14 years now after a T20 Massey Ferguson. My acres are hilly and the Ferguson managed a few strange turns and twists which, if kept, would have made my wife a widow. This little guy is a ripper, doing the tasks asked. I use it to slash (cut) the paddocks, clean up my driveway with a rear blade, spread fertilizer, harrow the paddocks, and spray organic liquid fertilizers. It is serviced (which I record) at least once a year depending upon the hours I use it. I make sure that all oils, filters, and moving parts are maintained. I find that it is light in the front even though I have weights."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Reliable, tough construction, easily maintained, power range, availability of parts Cons: Cramped, hydraulics can be a bit fussy, power to weight ratio not so good, weight is a problem not power Type of User: Homeowner 10-50 Acres Location: AUS OT I also considered buying:

"It is very durable and as reliable as gravity, with excellent mechanical performance. It is simple to work on. If you can’t fix this tractor, you probably can’t fix anything else either! The shortcomings are increased wear and tear issues due to advanced age, local parts availability, and awkward on/off operator access. All those issues are manageable, but do exist. It is the best used tractor you will ever find in the $4,000 price range. It is geared very low and slow. The power-shift /power shuttle transmission Is bulletproof and convenient. It is ideal for hilly terrain or tight woods trails or skidding, but lousy for driving 3 miles to your food plot or field on the Midwest prairie. It has a great rototiller unit, which was designed as a tiller for rice paddies. If properly maintained, this strong reliable workhorse will easily outlive you. Yanmar built the very first compact diesel engine and it is obvious they know what they’re doing when you use and maintain this 1980 era tractor. Only a ford 8N comes close, which is produced by another non-college educated genius inventor, Henry Ford. "

"Tractor purchased December 2014 but had a problem with hydraulics so not used as yet. Starts OK,every thing works OK apart from hydraulic fluid going into engine sump. As soon as this little problem is resolved I think I will have a good little work horse ."

"The machine is definitely too narrow of a wheel base, but excellent for all types of yard work including moving gravel. Operates a 14-ton log splitter with out any issues."

Pros: 4 wheel drive. Cons: Snowblower not what it should be power-wise. Type of User: Homeowner 1-10 Acres Location: CND OT I also considered buying:

"Great little tractor. Older, and we've had to fix a few things and put up with a few quirks, but it runs like a dream and just gets the job done---mowing, lots of tilling, some post holes, and quite a few scoops of compost."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Tough little buggar. Cons: Small, even though I'm not too big a guy. Type of User: Commercial Farmer Location: USA OR I also considered buying:

"Bloody rough block! 60 degree slopes tipped her over twice, hidden rocks in long grass, just winched her back onto 4 and went on with the work. Unbelievable the power from an engine this size. Limitations only in size."

"This tractor is almost 30 years old now, and it has most of the important features you will find in top-of-the line current compact tractors. The one exception is no power steering. It is a very well built machine, and has been remarkably reliable in the 22 years I've owned it. I use it primarily for snow removal, forestry, and grading. Yanmar-san handles those chores easily. Mine has ag tires with calcium in the rear wheels, and it easily gets up a pretty steep forested and brushy hill on my property. Reliability and maintainability are strong points for this tractor. All of the maintenance parts are stocked by my John Deere dealer, and they also performed the one major repair I've had on the transmission (a snap ring holding the reverse gear failed, and R was lost). I have replaced the seat twice due to weathering, and found that a Deere Gator seat is the right size and bold pattern. The yellow color is a bit loud."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Maneuverability and reliability. Cons: The left side platform is small, and you must be careful dismounting the tractor. I wrenched my leg learning this lesson. Type of User: Homeowner 1-10 Acres Location: USA CO I also considered buying:

Model year: 1987 Date Purchased: 2010-06-06 Number of Hours: 500

"Well-built 4wd compact diesel tractor with low hours. Like a giant lawn tractor but a much more durable and feature-laden machine. I didn't care about getting the FEL, but now that I have one I find it indispensable. I use the tractor mostly for grading (and plowing) my 3/4 mile long driveway, brush hogging, hauling firewood from the woods, and moving dirt, rocks and other heavy stuff. I love this machine!"

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Small, low and stable with its turf tires, great for going into the woods, and for mowing under low limbs. Diesel, 4wd. Cons: A bit long with its FEL. Type of User: Homeowner 10-50 Acres Location: USA VA I also considered buying:

"I bought this tractor used a couple of months ago, and it has preformed everything I have asked of it. It came with a 5 foot brush hog, and has plenty of power to deal with the 8 foot tall canary grass around our place. I like the "Power Shift" trans. It took a little time to learn how to use it right. I will be adding a loader soon as well as a used grey market tiller. I can't give dealer Experience, since I bought it from a private party off of Craigslist. "
