"These are great tractors. I just got a '59 with an after market loader and I love it. Plenty of power, good range of gears, great brakes and easy to work on, except for the loader being in the way. I now have 5 of them. 3 1959's, 1 with a loader, 1 with out and 1 with a bad transmission. I also have a 1963 for parts that has power steering and a 1966 with a solid front axle, power steering, a 588 loader and a broken lower center case. I would recommend a 550 over any other tractor in it's class."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Almost everything about this tractor is a "pro". Cons: A little tight getting in and out of the seat. Type of User: Homeowner 1-10 Acres Location: USA WA I also considered buying:

Model year: 1964 Date Purchased: 2002-10-20 Number of Hours: 3200

"The 550 was by far the best utility tractor for the time period. It is a beefy 42 hp tractor that is easy to drive. The six speed transmission, independent PTO and three point hitch was far ahead of other utility tractors of the period. The tractor easily handles a 3 plow, and 5 foot rotary cutter. The seat is comfortable and the steering is easy even without power steering."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Independent PTO and six speed transmission. Cons: The h-pattern shift is somewhat confusing at first. Type of User: Homeowner 50-100 Acres Location: USA TN I also considered buying: International Harvester Cub, Oliver OC-3

"The Oliver was one of the best utility tractors built. The tractor has independent PTO, live hydraulics and a six speed transmission. In most ground it is a 3 plow tractor. Good parts availability. "

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Easy to handle, independent PTO, live hydraulics. Cons: They are not built any more. Type of User: Homeowner 50-100 Acres Location: USA TN I also considered buying:
