"We have religiously serviced this TD95D tractor. There is a major design fault with that tractor and it has cost us an engine re-build. The breather tube from the inlet to the valves cover is situated very close to the turbo charger and is not heat protected in any manner. That tube crystallized and disintegrated allowing dust to be sucked into the engine, destroying the rings and cylinders of my tractor. I see 50-year-old tractors still going, and see this TD95D having suddenly destroyed itself in 8 years. When we first purchased the tractor the brakes failed several times with disastrous consequences. The dealer insisted there was nothing wrong, but a better senior mechanic told me that condensation gets into the brake cylinders when the tractors sit after manufacture, and that is what causes the problem. We had to have a brake rebuild on a brand new tractor. The radiator/forklift arrangement is atrocious. It is very difficult to clean and the tractor tends to overheat in hot weather.I raised this engine problem breather tube problem with New Holland - there is no direct manner - you have to fill out a form on the website. "I bought this tractor with an 820TL loader used with 90 hours on it in Southern New Mexico and trailered it home to Western Montana. It has performed well for me. I use it to handle large round bales for winter feeding and to round bale hay in the summer. It has plenty of power and is easy on fuel. The hydraulics are great and it handles 1,400 bales with easy and has precise control. The 12-speed transmission (4x3) is synchronized in range and shifts like a dream -it is an excellent transmission! The power steering and the three-point hitch are also excellent. the front-wheel drive is excellent as is the diff lock. The fact that all of the controls are mechanical makes for excellent reliability. I now have a total of 390 hours on it and I'm very pleased with it. However, I have some minor issues with it that I don't believe I should have with a $50,000+ tractor with this low usage. The rubber heater hoses have deteriorated and they pass through the cab A pillar up to the cab roof where the heater core is located. These hoses have cracked and are leaking coolant and need replacement. To do this you have to remove the cab roof to gain access to the heater core. It is a major chore to get the roof off and the factory service manuals are poorly written so you have to develop your way through the process. This could have been avoided by putting stainless steel pipes in the A pillar and then having heater hose run from the bottom of the A pillar there to the engine. Another issue is the clutch pedal adjustment has an access problem and the adjustment loosens over time. The windshield wiper motor is two speed but only runs at high speed. Go figure! I would have rated the reliability higher if it were not for these minor issues."

"This tractor has been a tremendous asset for our farm. The 94 HP 4WD, with 4 full size wheels, means the tractor has tremendous pulling power, even without calcium in the tires or wheel weights. The turning radius is a bit large, so it is a bit unwieldy on the headlands of our vegetable fields. The creeper gear is a big help for transplanting and fine cultivating. It is very stingy with fuel, using less than our 48 HP JD utility tractor for many operations. Overall, we are very happy with the performance of the tractor. That said we have had a number of problems with the tractor. The linkage on the reversing lever has been a problem since day one. There isn't quite enough throw to fully engage the shift in both directions. If the operator forces the lever, the linkage bends, exacerbating the problem. It requires lowering the fuel tank to work on the linkage. This problem has been a thorn in our side since the beginning. The other major problem is the gear and range shift levers. They sit in an open pan, under the operator platform. Oil splashes up from the transmission to lubricate the shifters. If the tractor sits outside, water gets into the pan, and it will contaminate the transmission. During freezing weather, the water accumulated in the pan freezes and the shifters can't be moved. We finally drilled a hole in the pan so the water runs out of it. There is some oil leakage, but the water no longer contaminates the transmission fluid. The PTO, 4wd and creeper linkages are also a bit finicky and difficult to engage and disengage. "

"Farm use plowing, planting, and hay. I also built a pond pulling a four yard scraper with no problems. I did experience some over heating this summer with the temperatures reaching over 110 degrees, but discovered all it needed was washing off the radiator and every thing was fine. Using it in the hay fields can cause trash to build up between the a/c cooler and radiator. Need to wash out a couple time year. In my opinion, this is a great tractor and is fuel efficient. One wire going to the alternator had to be replace. Simple repair and the only problem so far. Recommended."

"34 hr. when purchased. Cab tractor runs hot pulling round bailer. Bunch of small problems started about 200 hr. Local dealer would not help. New Holland national would not help. Replaced with 1992 MF 383 cab tractor problems went away."
