"I purchased this tractor in 2009. It came with a 52-inch belly mower, a 48-inch rotor-tiller, and a front-end loader. All of this cost me $3,500 Canadian. I have since added a 6-foot blade and a 60-inch rear MTD snow blower. I wanted to get a 48-inch blower but was unable to find any other than new, so I went with the 60-inch used, which in all fairness is too big for this tractor. After the first pass, when you can reduce the size of cut, it is ok. The mower and tiller it handles with ease. The front-end loader is handy, but one has to remember it will tip the tractor and it won’t lift the bucket on heavy lifts. Other than a little instability on hilly ground, I’ve had no problems with this little tractor. It is a manual transmission, not hydro. I personally don't like hydro-static drives. "

"We're using this unit for my wife's horse barn. She's tiny, so I needed a unit that would pull a manure spreader, do some yard and garden work and be easy for her to drive. It's 4WD, nice unit, although I'm going to have it repainted. I'm looking for a front end loader for it at this time, but having little luck. Anyone out there who knows of one that is NOT $4-5K, I'll pay a finder's fee. - Mike"

"I purchased this tractor in July of this year. Have been very pleased with it. It has a Bush Hog front end loader which really makes is a pleasure to use. One of the secrets I have found with the success of this tractor is to keep it serviced and maintained. Have several implements to use with it: mainly for gardening, which I love to do. Hope this helps with someone thinking of purchasing one."

"Good little tractor I bought it new in 1991 never did any thing to it other then change engine oil fuel pump oil and grease it yearly but 3 years ago I needed a new sediment bowl assembly and came to find out that you can no longer get parts for that series MF so I traded it in for a New Holland T1520."

"I was looking for a compact tractor with a loader. Small enough to use on our small alpaca farm but large enough to accomplish many tasks. Once the weight box was put on, there was no stopping it. The MF loader is not lightweight add-on. Servicing is quite simple. Start ups were easy even on the coldest of days. The few frigid days we did have, plugging it in at night is all it needed. This has been a great starter tractor for us. "

"After a learning period on use of the loader, this is a tool I wish I had bought years ago. It is very useful on a small acreage. I have moved a ton of dirt for my wife and a ton of horse poop for a neighbor. I can't believe the power a little three cylinder diesel can produce."

The Mighty Massey

"I bought this tractor used, from a private party (thus the low dealer rating) about 2 years ago. To be honest, it is my first real tractor, so I have learned a LOT on the little Massey. Mine is a std shift model, with FEL and rotating Gannon on the rear. Some previous owner has done some repairs, since the steel lines are mostly hoses and the hyd cylinders for the FEL operate backwards. By that I mean the cylinder moves in and out when the box is rotates, rather than just the piston. Kinda odd, and if I ever need to replace, I will correct that but they have worked without failure for 2 years, so I will not fix what isn't broken. I have replaced a few hyd lines, and both front tires. The clutch acts up every now and then but seem to "cure" itself, so I keep going with it. Honestly, I have worked the daylights out of this little tractor, and it has done nearly everything I have asked it to do. The only thing it wouldn't do was lift a big chunk of an old steel water tank, that someone had buried on my property. My neighbor have a big Casey 580 back hoe that he brought down, that did the trick. It takes about 30-40 seconds of glo plug heat to start it on a cold day, and it does run a little smoke, plus some blow-by, so a rebuild is probably in it's future, if I hang on to it. The only reason I would ever sell it, is to buy a Kubota BX series, and that is because the BX would replace my riding mowers and tractor, all in one machine. If I never get the funds for a BX, I will probably rebuild/restore the little Massey. I would really prefer to keep this one AND get the BX, but do not have that kind of money. The previous owner(s) kept it outside always, and it shows."

Pros: Small enough for tight spots, workhorse, fuel effecient. Cons: No power steering, so hard to steer, hyd pump is small so it moves the FEL a little slow. Type of User: Homeowner 1-10 Acres Location: USA CA I also considered buying:

"This was purchased used at a very reasonable price... at the time. It has not let me down once in all the years of use. I used this for every week mowing, woods clearing, construction projects, plowing, discing and just crushing down to the river. This is one tough little critter. I still love it like the day I bought it. -Al"

Massey Ferguson 1010 w/54" Belly Mower

"I began looking at small tractors about 6 months prior to my purchase. I found mine on Ebay and tried to buy it last minute before auction closed and missed it. Next day contacted owner (dealer), made offer ($2,800) that was accepted. Hopped in my truck w/trailer and off to West Virgina and back in same day. My tractor has the standard transmission with HI/LO range, PTO and 3pt hitch withe hydraulics. It also has front PTO for the mower. It ran and runs like the ole Singer sewing machine. Couple of solvable problems. 1) corroded battery cable and 2) clogged fuel filter. Changing filter created 3) air in fuel lines. That one took some time of tinkering to get the air out. My tractor looks very good. Only a few scratches. I waxed it and it shines. The mower is very heavily constructed, but has a weak point. It has 4 wheels, the 2 in front being on casters. In a turn the wheels do not always turn, resulting in bending the forks. I went to a welding shop and had them rebuilt and built up a bit. Also had bushings put in that shank to take out some of the wiggle, but first time out I bent one of the forks. I think there is a design flaw, as some models of this mower have non-adjustable skids on the front rather than wheels. The other problem with the mower is the left end ejects the mown material. That prevented me from attaching my leaf vacuam. Also the mower blades are sharpened on the opposite edge from all other mowers that I have used and seen. My blades are in fair shape but I have not yet been able to locate new ones. As for parts, some may be difficult to find. Filters (there are 4) have not been too bad. A local tractor dealer has been able to supply me with the filter numbers and I bought them elsewhere. One I had to order from WIX Filters. One other use, I purchas a 'carry-all from Tractor Supply. Built a platform and tied on a lawn chair. Now I can take my grand-daughter for rides through the subdivision. Thanks for reading. Jim"

"This machine bears the Hinomoto name, but is identical to the MF 1010. The owner's manual for the MF 1010 is precisely the same. My only complaint is that the wheelbase is too narrow. Working on slopes is scary. It has plenty of power. My non-OEM loader is too heavy but it handles it well. The oil dipstick is hard to reach, could use an extension. It is comfortable to ride and very fuel efficient. The FWD is useful in soft soil and the locking rear end control is both easy to use and invaluable. Removing the sheet metal allows good access to the engine. The screw holes are a little off, but manageable. The chains used to hold an implement from moving side-to-side broke right away. The chains were way too weak and had to be replaced. Overall, I am very happy with this tractor."
