The Kubota L4240 has been a wonderful tractor. The HST transmission makes it very easy to use especially for doing our orchard work around trees on a hilly orchard. It's very safe compared to the tractors we had in the past.
However, I believe the HST transmission bleeds off some power as compared to a manual transmission. When we filled the rear tires with water for ballast, I noticed a loss of hill climbing power at higher gears. It could be that this tractor is slightly underpowered but all in all, it has been adequate for our purposes. Traction is excellent and maneuverability is very good. It is a little tall for orchard work though.....
