"We own 10 acres in Michigan. It was completely overgrown making the many white and red oaks all but invisible because of all the aspen, white pine and beech choking them out. Equipped with a FEL mounted grapple rake, the L3430 is capable of pushing down a 60' 12" diameter aspen or white pine, picking it up root and all, stacking it on a pile leaving no stump whatsoever. In four weeks I piled up enough brush to grind 400 yds. of mulch. It only burns 5 gallons of fuel per day. The only problem with the design is that, being a HST model, all the plumbing is under the tractor and very exposed. The first year of work, I drove over an old stump which rolled and bent a suction line. I lost $100 of fluid and a week of work rounding up parts. Same thing happened the next year. Bad thing about hydros, you loose hydraulic pressure, you can't do anything, like drive or even turn the wheels. I solved the problem by building a skid plate and brush guard which kept the tractor happy this year."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Very maneuverable in tight quarters, economical to operate as long as you don't break a suction line. Cons: Open under-carriage makes brush clearing risky. Type of User: Homeowner 10-50 Acres Location: USA OH I also considered buying: New Holland T3040

"Good dependable machine. Had one problem with the PTO clutch, which was set wrong at the factory and failed. This was replaced which fully resolved the issue. Good service from my dealer on the repair and use of a loaner tractor during the repair time. A little low on power but has met my needs and has moved hundreds of tons of earth and gravel with the excellent FEL. The quick change bucket mount works well. Note that the Kubota quick attach dimensions on tractors is slightly different from the standard skid steer mounts and some attachments had loose mounting."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Reliable, FEL, good 3 pt hitch, good cab. Cons: Little low on power with HST. Type of User: Homeowner 1-10 Acres Location: USA VA I also considered buying: John Deere 1650

"I'm the property manager at a summer camp in Florida. We own a Kubota L3430 and it's never failed us. It's been beyond neglected for years before I took the position and still runs beautifully. I am currently looking for locations to get it looked over and afterwards I'm more than confident with maintaining the tractor myself."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Reliable, powerful, durable. Cons: A little light, needs weight plates or ballast for some heavier towing jobs. Type of User: Commercial Landscape Location: USA FL I also considered buying:

"When I bought my Kubota I did lots of research on this size tractor. It all boiled down to Kubota or John Deere. I could not afford to pay thousands of $$$ just to have green paint and a "Made in USA" stamp. For the same amount of money the Kubota was twice the I could have purchased a JD for. This tractor has always performed beyond my expectations. Mine is 4-wheel drive with industrial tires, HD front end loader, and lots of implements. I have 23 acres of mostly big mature hardwoods with a small creek, steep hills, and lots of rocks of all sizes. The L3430 has moved TONS of rocks and huge trees with no hesitation or problems. It's also used in the half acre garden. Implements include: power tiller, scrape blade, box blade, post-hole digger, bus hog, and pallet forks. "

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Dependable, reliable, tough. Cons: Gets stuck if the frame bottoms out. Type of User: Homeowner 10-50 Acres Location: USA GA I also considered buying:

"This Kubota was an excellent buy and fit for our needs. I use an8' rear blade and bucket for extensive snow plowing in winter. I use a 6' brush cutter on the rear in summer to cut weeds and pasture grass down on about 15 acres at least once every year. It is so very capable and easy to operate. I have the cab version with hydrostatic and have been truly satisfied."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Small overall size, exceptionally smooth operation of all controls. Cons: None that I can think of yet. Type of User: Homeowner 10-50 Acres Location: USA WA I also considered buying:

"I traded my 1979 International 510 rubber tired loader even Steven for this 2003 L3430 HSTC. It came with a LA723 and quick detach bucket as well as a quick detach set of forks, Rear mounted 6' Meteor snowblower, rear tire chains and various other 3 pt. hitch items. So far I think I got a good deal. I was concerned about the high hours but my local dealer said it was not a problem. The hydro pedal was very sticky but after taking it all apart, cleaning it, filing off all the rust on the pivot pins and regreasing it before assembly, it's like a new pedal!"

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Cab! Heat, A/C, Radio, Hydrostatic, great all around visability. Cons: Hydro pedal pivot points should be greaseable. Type of User: Homeowner 100+ Acres Location: USA NH I also considered buying:

"Good reliable engine, but a bit underpowered. Engine starts every time even in cold weather. If you live on flat land, power may be adequate for you. HST has been a good reliable transmission, except initially required a warranty job when new with the HST having jerking problems, but the dealer fixed it up promptly. Front end loader has had warranty on one of the cylinders, but has leaked ever since. The main ears on the boom broke off one side, just when warranty expired. When I phoned to tell Kubota, they said, "you are on your own". The warranty expired. When I said that someone could be injured by this problem, they again said, "your warranty has expired". I rebuilt the broken parts as well as the good one with heavier metal, 1/4 inch plate instead of the 3/16, and haven't had any more ears breaking off. The front axle is too light. I had one warranty job replacing bearings and seals. Since then another failed bearing and had to replace them, again at my cost. The Kubota dealer said that I was working the tractor too hard. I was quite insulted, because the dealer person didn't look like he ever put any time on a tractor in his life. I have bumped up my oil change intervals, and change the front diff. when I do the engine each 100 hrs. In cold weather the loader controls freeze up, so I have been keeping the tractor in a heated shop for the past 3 years. Since then, no problem. The HST filters and oil will cost you about $1.00/hr of operation. Overall, the tractor is good value for the money. You have to baby the weak front end and must repair the flaws in the front end loader to prevent someone from getting hurt, otherwise you will likely be happy with the tractor."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: The HST is the only way to go for loader work. Cons: Bucket controls are in a poor location, your arm will cramp up after a few hours of it being stuck up in the air in front of you. Type of User: Homeowner 50-100 Acres Location: CND OT I also considered buying:
