"This is the 4WD 56 hp Kubota, very basic, standard shift with not many frills. I got a loader with it, which came with a second remote, at the rear, which I intend on using to angle a snowplow this winter. Got a Farmi winch and hand made a canopy out of steel that is connected to, and as strong as, the rollover bar. I have a small rough cut sawmill and use this to log, move logs and lumber, and load lumber and sawdust into trucks---VERY powerful and will lift supposedly around 2300 lbs, though I shouldn't need to ever lift that much. I used to use a 28+/- hp Ford model 1920 so I can't really compare it with anything of equal size. I needed a tractor with this HP or more to possibly run the Lane tractor mill, and needed as large a front tire as possible for working in the snow. Also had to have the beveled front steering because of tight steering needs in a small sawmill yard. Cheaper than most other colors, but I am sure there are reasons. I believe Massey's and Deere are heavier-possibly more rugged components, and New Holland M.F. Deere and Case probably lift a little more, but they weren't worth the extra 5 grand price tag. 0% financing for 5 years too!"

"This is a review for a Kubota M5640SUD 4x4. It is 56 Hp. SU stands for Special Utility. The D indicates 4x4. I was told by a dealer that this is Kubota's "price" tractor. This tractor was not listed in the pulldown options for tractor selection. The only thing close was MX5640SU. As far as I know, that tractor does not exist. My previous tractors were a 1951 Ferguson TO-30, a 1980's 55 Hp Long 4x4 with FEL and a 2005 John Deere 4410 35 Hp 4x4 with FEL Compact Utility. I traded the JD in for the 5640 because it was too small for my needs. I use the tractor for logging, moving lumber/logs, trail making and plowing the driveway. During the search process I considered the New Holland Workmaster, MF 2615, JD 5055E, Kubota MX5100. All were in about the same price range. The MX was a bit less. The JD 5055E and the M5640SUD had all the same specs. The JD was $1500 more, as were the NH and MF, and did not have as good of financing available. I was not impressed with the NH or MF. I decided on the M5640SUD over the MX5100 because of the tall rubber up front. I live in an area with very rough terrain. The taller tires give better ground clearance, traction and more stability. I wasn't really interested in the Hydro and I think I prefer a clutch in the woods. So, the review: The tractor has a simple comfortable layout. No bells and whistles. Quality, fit and finish are second to none. Looks to be easy to get at things to work on. There is only 12 hours on the machine so I have not pushed it hard. From what I can tell, it has plenty of power and lifting abilities. Handling is great. Very nimble in the woods. The owner/operator manuals are some of the best I have ever seen. I would highly recommend this tractor."
