Model year: 0 Date Purchased: 1984-04-10 Number of Hours: 5500

"We've abused this poor old mower for 26 years, starting out mowing 30 acres, then down to 10, last couple of yrs only 3. It hasn't been to the dealer since the late 80s, though I've done some repairs & maintenance here. The only major repair so far is replacing the entire steering gear -- it just wore out at about 5500 hrs (very rough ground here). We replace the deck belt every yr or two (horrible job). It still has its original glow plugs & injectors. We don't have any dealer maintenance on it -- too far away -- and only change oil & filters once a year. If that. We lube the fittings when we remember, usually once a year. The brakes & muffler are original It's kept outside year-round, no shelter or tarp, so we replaced the deck once when the original 40-incher rusted through the braces we welded on in the early 90s. We also replaced the seat when it rusted through, and it's close to needing it again. I replaced the original starter last year The engine hrs are an estimate (no gauge), and probably on the low side. In addition to mowing, it hauled tons of dog food to our kennel weekly, frequently idling in between trips. The poor thing looks like hell, but it's an incredible workhorse. The diesel engine uses no oil at all, and is still strong. If you get enough juice to the starter, it'll start almost instantly. When we decided we needed an actual tractor a couple of years ago, based on our experience with this mower we didn't even look at anything except Kubota. If our L3130 is half this good, we'll be happy campers again. And I suspect the old mower may outlive the new tractor."
