"I have had trouble losing steering on the BX1830. It just happened today after I finished mowing and I had to coast to the barn. It started up after it sat awhile and the steering worked again. My wife mows a lot. I don't want her on a hill losing power."
"All in all this has been one tough little tractor, it has the 54" MMM and the La211 loader. I use it with a 48" bush hog and a 48" back blade. Lots of power for the size of motor. I found traction to be an issue then I put chains on the rear tires and problem solved. I plow a lot of driveway with it and mow a lot of grass. Never had any mechanical problems at all. Great tractor."
"Overall its a good performing tractor but the expense of maintaining a Kubota is ridiculously high. Their oil is out of this world expensive. Oil filters are $15. Simple parts like a flow priority valve were almost $200. Light lens were 10x the cost of agrisupply. And when the HST went at 500hr is cost 20% of the tractors original price in parts alone. If the dealer would have done the work it would have been 40%. That's a shame."
"Tractor has been used for mowing and hauling yard material with small trailer. Hours are low but I have had very few problems with it over the last 5 years. Only notable negative has been a tendency for it to overheat when used for mowing in dry dusty locations where the dust screen over radiator can clog with dry grass, pollen etc., preventing air flow. It's easy to wipe off--but it's easy to forget about too. Tractor has 4 wheel drive, 2 drive ranges, with Hydrostatic Drive and is overall solid as a rock. I'm looking to move up to a B2300 with FEL and a tiller to do some heavy landscaping. Still like the belly mower though, and this model has a mid-PTO where the next step up (say the L2700SU)does not. "
"Bought my tractor used from a private seller. So - dealer experience is really N/A. Although, my local dealer has been wonderful. The tractor is very tough and well designed. I have a FEL, Mid Mount Mower and other attachments. All perform flawlessly. Here's the bad. FEL design. FEL is very easy to remove and re-install (That's great). What's bad is the amount of power on the tilt feature of the bucket. It's considerably week compared to other tractors I've owned. 2nd, the 1830 does not have individual rear brakes. For some people, this isn't a problem. However, I've driven tractors for years which have split brakes and have gotten to love them. It's the only way to steer when back-dragging, or when the front end gets light. My 3rd design flaw I don't care for, is the lack of a tach. Other than those 3 small items, it really is a great tractor and has tons of power for an 18hp tractor."
