"I have used this machine to plow a very long and hilly driveway. It does well with some weight on the back end. This little tractor barely uses any fuel and is very powerful for its size. I use the gearing to its advantage. The engine is small but it is very capable when you are smart with it. It struggles in plowing heavy deep snow. It needs more traction and I need to add front weight for steering with plow. The tractor is very stable on hills with turf tires and rear wheels turned out. I have done a ton of work with this little machine. I have hauled tons of wood and pulled many downed logs through the woods. It's a great tractor. I have owned a John Deere 318 and wouldn't trade my Kubota for two of them!"
"Bought this B5100D with a Woods RM59 mower and a 348 belly mower for $600. Looks like hell but keeps going strong. Picked up a 48" snowblower for the front and it works great."
"Even though I still don't have many hours on it yet, this is proving to be a great tractor. This is my first Kubota, as of right now, I would buy and recommend this for others. Options I added were rear remotes, draft control, a canopy, 4x4, loader, and rear light. It pulls a 3 x 14" plow with ease, and a 7' rotary cutter is also no problem. It runs quite, is about what I expected on fuel use, and seems to supply the rated power (roughly compared to my Ford 4000). If I could change a few things they would be; another set of lights either up near the canopy or fender mounted, a crank on the leveling arm (I do not like the lift and turn square sleeve, I can't adjust it from the seat), more range on the lift arms, I think they should lift higher and lower more. "
"So far we are pleased. Pull power, PTO power, and lift strength are all good. Lift height and reach is awesome."
"I'll buy another Kubota."
"This is a mid 1970s B5100E, a 10 hp 2 cylinder diesel, 2WD, with three speeds and two ranges. It has a class one but narrow three point hitch and rides on turf tires. I bought it well used from a local dealer who said it spent most of the time on brush hog duty. I have it as a toy. It handles a 5' rear grader blade with no trouble, though I am far from learning how to be proficient with it. I also pull a 4' drag harrow with it to help maintain a 250' driveway. The little thing always starts easily and has never missed a beat. The power is there for what I do with it although there is some slippage when trying to knock down a pile of dirt with the grader blade but that is because of the tires and my lack of experience. I think the little thing would easily handle the duties on a small truck farm with some ag tires. You'll see in one photo how it sits in a 4X8 trailer. "
