"I now have over 400 hours and seven years of use with my DX40se HST. I have no complaints. It has never failed to start. Biggest problem was a leaky fuel filter bowl which was replaced under warranty. I do the service and the tractor has never needed to go back to the dealer. Tractor is used largely in land clearing and worked pretty hard with grapple and backhoe. The loader is probably the strongest for any 40hp tractor and the front axles handle the load easily. Really no complaints at all. "

"Bottom line: this is a heavy cut and has the power to use the weight. The engine is a "grass is greener on the hp side" (she ain't on that side), but she sips the fuel so good that being a little weak @6300 lbs. isn't all that bad of a deal. Really it isn't weak until you use high range then when trying to travel from spot to spot, the engine really can't handle the range as it should, but on flat pavement or with a tail wind she will hit 20 mph with your foot pressed as hard as she will go for a mile or more. I use this to get coffee in the morning at my house if I am working early in the city. It's a steep paved hill. I need to climb back up and M is almost faster than H, but once you crest the hill you would rather be in H for traffic purposes. That's just so you understand the cross over of the ranges from the engine being small for the size. Really if it was turbo charged, it would be perfect, but it sips fuel in its present state, and that is moving crushed stone in tight areas. The FEL is really good. If it had more curl power, it would be able to do almost anything a large skid steer can and not tear up ground nearly as easy as skid. It has excellent maneuverability, very smooth hydraulics. This is a cab model. The a.c. is cold, the radio is good enough for me and I really don't pay attention to it since I am focused on the work at hand mostly. The loader joy stick is excellent and I like it better than the new NX6010. I looked at that, was 12k more for basically same thing with less features. no one will work these much harder than I will and I know that a 6010NX is a waste of money unless you use it to do heavy PTO work on a farm with large tillage equipment. and even then you are still on the wrong machine. The RX6620 is hands down the next tractor I'll be buying!"

"I am a long time user of tractors, and this is my second Kioti. The first was a little CK22 with loader/backhoe, which a neighbor now owns. My primary tractor is a John Deere 6400. So, I have a lot of experience with my larger John Deere, and not so much yet with my new Kioti. Many of my comments and ratings may increase over time, because I am not dissatisfied with the Kioti, but I feel that my JD rates nearly a 5 across the board. So, keep in mind that I am still learning how to use a new Kioti tractor. Like my JD, the Kioti has a cab which is well appointed. Front and rear wipers/washers, heat and AC, lots of visibility in the right places. Cab is very weather tight, and since my primary usage of the tractor, to date, has been snowblowing, I appreciate the comfort and visibility it affords. The cab is somewhat lacking on sound deadening insulation, and I do wear hearing protection when running the engine at PTO speed. The Kioti engine is not quiet! Using a hydro-static drive is unfamiliar territory for me. I am accustomed to multi-range, multi-speed transmission with forward/reverse lever. I find the HST has some advantages, but I do occasionally treat the "forward" peddle like the foot throttle on my JD. That doesn't work too well, as the engine output quickly "wilts" dependent on the hand throttle position, and reminds me that I am not operating the JD. The hydraulic "joy stick" is very similar to the JD one that I'm used to. So, no learning curve there. The local hydraulic control, [on the back of the tractor] for the 3PH, is a great help in mounting any 3PH attachment. The various tractor controls and cab controls are quite different than I'm accustomed to, but are intuitively arranged. The cab mounted work lights cover the area you'd expect them to, so work space around the tractor is very well illuminated. The radio is not very useful, due to engine noise. But I've worked around that with some fancy hearing protectors/head phones. I can listen to a favorite audio book, quite handily, while I'm snow blowing for an hour or more. I purchased the tractor during the "free" FEL offering, and with a six foot front mount snow blower. The snow blower is Kioti branded, but is, I believe, manufactured in Canada by a well known manufacturer of snowblowers. The installation requires a sub-frame for the snowblower. The sub-frame is much more that just a "frame". It provides support and protection for the mid mount PTO (2000 rpm) output shaft that drives the blower gearbox. It also handles the lift function by means of an included hydraulic cylinder. The range of lift is -6" to +11" referenced to auger housing contact on level surface. Attachment of the snow-blower, to the frame, is well thought out, and fairly simple if tractor and attachment is on a hard, flat, level floor. Blower is easily mounted without help, in five minutes, if the above conditions are met. If not, you need a helper. As you may be imagining, the sub frame/snowblower combination results in the rear wheels having very little weight for traction. I purchased a 3-ph mounted weight box, of 8 cubic foot capacity. Loaded with sand, it adds about 900 pounds to the rear wheels and given that the weight is multiplied somewhat, by position, with respect to the fulcrum point (wheels) it greatly improves rear wheel traction. A good set of chains, on the rear tires made this tractor able to handle most snow covered slopes safely. As for desired functionality, my new Kioti tractor/snowblower meets my needs. There are a few things I will change before next snow season. Loading the rear tires will be first and hopefully offers a big gain for the buck (about $400). Now it is warmer weather, in Maine, and the snow blower/sub-frame is stored away. The FEL is on the tractor. One benefit the DK40 offers, over my JD, is that it is light enough to load on a flat bed and pull behind my pickup. So far I am quite pleased with this new Kioti, and haven't managed to break anything yet, except the radio antenna. I am quite anxious to learn how rugged the universal quick attach mount, on the loader frame is, and am considering two attachments that will mount on it. A bushhog with hydraulic drive, and a small beam mounted grapple. The fluid flow/pressure rating of the tractor hydraulic pump will determine what I can mount on the loader frame. I'm hoping that I won't discover that I should have opted for the DK50 and its extra PTO output, for use with a shaft mounted hydraulic pump. Perhaps I should have rated it higher, in all categories. But, with only 52 hours usage to date, I feel that I don't have sufficient data to grant a maximum positive rating. Please understand that I am very satisfied with my new Kioti and may append to this review at a later date I think the Kioti DK40SE HST Cab model tractor is a very user friendly, capable machine. I expect that like an earlier, smaller Kioti I owned, it will prove to be a good investment and have reasonable resale value, should I decide to sell sometime down the road."

"The only problem I have had with this tractor is having some rats chew the wires to the fuel gauge. I dinged it a little once getting the FEL back on but that was operator error. Have changed the battery once. Besides routine maintenance I have not had to do anything to this machine. My next tractor will be a bigger Kioti."

"This is my first tractor and I grew up in the city, but I am a professional airline pilot and feel competent to pass judgment on my Kioti tractor. Overall, I am quite impressed with this FEL equipped machine. I have 12 very hilly acres in Northern Kentucky and my primary need was for a solid four wheel drive tractor to bush hog the slopes. Stability and safety were top requirements. The hydro-static transmission is safest for someone like me and really for anyone often working on hills. The chances of missing a gear, having the brakes lock the rear tires only, and still skidding down the slope is a frightening scenario. This tractor has performed great so far even with industrial tires, which I wanted because I have to drive on my lawn to get to some places to bush hog. I've bush hogged the hills three times and it just chugs along reliably and powerfully at the recommended 2,500 RPM for bush hogging in low gear. I have a six foot bush hog. Going up the hills I can drive at a comfortable speed---slow---for the bush hog to make mincemeat of the weeds and grasses. The 41 HP engine pulls the over 6,000 pound tractor quite adequately up 30 degree slopes. My tractor has loaded rear tires with RimGuard, FEL, bush hog - probably 6,300 pounds with me in the saddle. I feel the HP is a good fuel economy match for the weight of the tractor - but would not want any fewer horses on this heavy duty frame. The FEL has proven itself useful not only in balancing the front of the tractor, but in carrying loads of gravel down the hill to build a culvert. It really increases the utility of the machine to have an FEL. When winter comes I should be able to move a little snow around with it. They also have angled aftermarket snow blades that attach to the FEL and I'm considering getting one since I have a long gravel lane. No tractor is perfect and I've noted a couple of minor design features I'd change if I were Kioti. The switches for the turn signals and headlights are by my left knee and I've whacked them a few times. I've also inadvertently hit the key on the right side of the steering wheel and turned off the engine a couple of times. These things have happened when I'm backing up and half turned around in the seat, which I've had to do a lot on the hills. The throttle is a bar to the right of the steering wheel and it is very stiff. It takes some muscle to change the engine RPM. The good thing is once set it doesn't move. I'm sure this could be adjusted for someone without a man's arm strength. I have to laugh a bit at my next minor complaint. Kioti's ads tout how quiet their Daedong diesel engine is, but my engine is very loud. If this is a quiet engine I'd hate to hear a loud engine. I've always protected my hearing as a pilot and I may be overly sensitive to noise, but I wear ear plugs and "ears" and I still think it's fairly loud. With double hearing protection my hearing is safe---I recommend everyone use double hearing protection. The only feature I wonder about is how the rear PTO engages. There is a rocker switch to engage the PTO, which you only do at idle RPM. When you hit this switch it is instant on. The bush hog bangs, the tractor rocks a bit, the engine RPM bogs down and then stabilizes back at the original RPM. Over time I hope nothing breaks with this feature. Those are my only operational complaints and they are minor indeed. This tractor is an amazing machine and I took right to it with its logical controls and easy to operate hydro-static "forward" and "rearward" dual pedals. Fit and finish are good---especially the fit. The topside finish is Kioti "red", which is more like a burnt orange. I think the orange paint could have been thicker in a couple of places, but it is overall nicely applied. Protecting against corrosion is what tractor owners should really care about. The gray paint on the undercarriage is really good. Driving position is very comfortable - nice floating seat and adjustable tilt steering. Note---the view from the rear photo below has four inch wheel spacers installed. I bought those to enhance side hill stability."

"With only 17 hours, the tractor is still very new. It has a cab for AC in the TX summer heat. The radio antenna has already been broken as I've been using the tractor to clear and improve access roads of cedar (ash juniper) and oak. I purchased a used tree shear and new hinged box blade, FEL and grapple. Although the Kioti had the best hydraulic flow rates compared to other competitors I researched, I would still like to have more for powering the tree shears. So far, everything has worked out well and I have no complaints."

"It took almost 3 years for me to make a tractor buying decision. I was set to pull the trigger on a used blue, when a new Kioti dealer opened up 15 minutes from my home. I went, I looked, I liked, I bought. I think the DK40 is the sweet spot in the Kioti lineup. Large enough to handle the road building/maintaining that I have to do, but small enough to get around easily in the woods. I bought this tractor from Cavalier Equipment in Daleville, VA and they have provided excellent service and support for it. I have done all my own maintenance work. Had to call for help to 1) get the hydraulic filter off on the first service, and 2) adjust HST pedal play, and 3) replace battery. No other issues."

"I purchased this tractor over the internet from Little Tractor over in Metropolis IL last summer while I was still stationed overseas. Just took delivery of the tractor recently and I'm very impressed with the build quality of this machine. It's more like a new car than a tractor in the fit, finish, and detail of the tractor. While I've only used it to do a few hours of bush-hogging and move some heavy equipment around the property, it has been a pleasure to operate. All the controls fall naturally in hand and operate smoothly. The 3-point hitch is very easy to hook up with all the adjustments it has, and the ability to move it up/down from the rear of the tractor is very helpful. I'm very happy to have purchased the hydrostat over the gear; much easier to use for FEL work. So far, so good with this tractor. I'll update as time passes."
