"I have no issues with the tractor itself. I've been mowing 5 acres now for almost five years. Have only had to replace a front steering bar & joint. The mowing deck is 62" and it to has performed well, but seems to lack enough discharge power to blow out the grass clippings so they don't pile up. When mowing I usually end up double cutting some areas just to spread out the clippings. Though I have mastered the art of removing and servicing the deck, it is not for the weak of mind or back. It's almost a two man job. I probably should have held out for the "drive over" deck though it would still have to be flipped to clean the underside and sharpen the blades."
"This mower is a beast. It replace my old faith full Wheel Horse C-85 that I have own for 31 years. Which I still own also and I hope this John Deere 720 will be around as long."
"This is my second Deere, the first one being a 318 which I bought brand new and still own. I got the 720 on an employee rollover so it had minimal hours and was virtually brand new. It's a step up from the 318 being a larger machine with more weight and power. It does the work easily and I can see that the machine will last a long time with proper maintenance. It's a quality piece and I very much like how easy it is to change out attachments."
"I bought mine off of Craigslist. The gentleman was moving and needed to get rid of it as he was moving into an apartment. It had had minimal dealer maintenance but was in very good condition (owner was NOT mechanically inclined). These things are built like a tank. With a lot of TLC, I had it running and looking like new in no time. The radiator was packed with Dandelion chaf, all fluids were changed as were the filters. New deck wheels and spindles were mounted as well as a custom mounted tractor radio for entertainment. The only complaint with this garden tractor is the fuel consumption. The 27hp Kawasaki engine uses fuel at a very high rate especially when compared to a diesel. "
"The X720 makes yard chores so fun and enjoyable that the wife wants to do them. The tractor is very quiet compared to my 15 year old Snapper. The power steering is a great feature although I didn't think I needed it. The quality of the tractor is great with good engineering features like grease zerks for everything that rotates. The most surprising thing has been my dealings with the dealer. I found them to be excellent. Made buying and getting my tractor a fun time."
"I did a lot of researching before purchasing my new x720. I had a Snapper before that was 15 years and finally died. The x720 is way more tractor than the Snapper but of course cost much more too. The liquid cooled engine is quite and is comfortable to run. The tractor is very well designed and is built like a tank. This will be my last tractor and I think I will enjoy it in 15 years as much as I do now."
