"This is a rare (only 89 built) Industrial model a friend of mine found in South Arizona. I shipped it to Northern Alberta, done some restoration/repair and it is used as a yard tractor moving boats and trailers and a little lite grading with a rear mount blade."

"I purchased this tractor in Ohio and had it shipped to Maine. I also have a 1985 420 and this makes a pair. They are just the tractor I need. I put a front end loader on the 1992 with wheel and suitcase weights. This tractor will have the FEL full time. It amazes me how much I can do with these tractors. I pull stumps, lift rocks, blow snow, use the loader as staging, level gravel, eliminate use of a wheelbarrow, and ... oh yes, mow the lawn. This tractor is most like the farm tractors I grew up with. I recognize that these tractors are more than 20 years old and require service and replacement parts."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Quality build, array of attachments, versatility. Cons: Some parts are no longer available new, age. Type of User: Homeowner 1-10 Acres Location: USA ME I also considered buying: John Deere 318

"So far this has been a great all around mower-tractor. Just big enough for using the blade, but still not bad at mowing. Will need to overhaul or repower it in the next year or two. "

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Good all around mower and tractor. Cons: Shaft drive front PTO. Equiment cost is higher. Type of User: Homeowner 1-10 Acres Location: USA MO I also considered buying:

"I have two John Deere 420s. I bought used and being more excited than diligent, I did not realize at the time the amount of additional maintenance that was required. That being said, I am eager to learn how to maintain this wonderful piece of machinery so that it may continue to give me the work I desire of it. "

Pros: Big, strong, and gits it done. Cons: Not being knowledgeable about the equipment. Type of User: Homeowner 1-10 Acres Location: USA WI I also considered buying:

"The John Deere 420 was my teenage tractor. It was very utilitarian back in the 50's. Great tractor with live power and excellent hydraulics. This current tractor brings me, now 70, back to those days."

"This replaced a Ford 12 Horse Hydro w/ 42" deck, 22 years ago. Like they say, nothing runs like a Deere. Have doubled the hours since I bought it, and it still works great, summer and winter. New favorite dealer is Kermit Kistler, New Tripoli, PA. "

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: 60" deck makes mowing time fast. Always starts. Cons: Onan engine, recent electrical issue with PTO/Neutral switch/TDC Module. Type of User: Homeowner 1-10 Acres Location: USA PA I also considered buying:
