"I love the tractor. It has good power, but at 1800 RPMs back filling a ditch, the clutch housing broke in half. Thank god for my 790 tractor and box blade or I couldn't have finished. The replacement part cost $6000 labor to install $4000. Just to be fair though, (dealer name removed) knew it had been broke when they sold it to me. But still, John Deere should correct this problem weak part. A large John Deere dealer checked out this tractor and said it was in great shape, so this will be my last John Deere."
"Clutch housing breaks in half. You would think they would engineer a minor break point. At $6,000 for a housing they like it being a weak point I assume."
"Own a JD 110 TLB. It has been a good hard working machine with very minor problems easily solved. Two days ago I lost my curl functions on my bucket when finishing a job. The bucket control handle anchor bolts backed out of the frame thus preventing me from curling. Got the bolts back into the frame, but it didn't cure the problem. I ordered a service manual to correctly troubleshoot and repair the problem. The bucket also only raises about 1/2 of the distance. I know I have hyd. flow but I'm not sure if it is adequate. Anyone out there with like problems on your 110TLB? I'd like to hear from you. Email me at gwilson356@comcast.net. Thanks, Gene "
"Have not had chance to put it two work yet. Seems two be well built hope to put it to work soon. Also have several other tractors IH 706 480 Case Construction King and a Long 2260. "
"By far the best tractor I've owned. It is big enough to dig out 30-40" fir stumps, small enough to backfill foundation sites. I have moved (carried) 20' fir logs 30" in dia to stack with the clamshell loader bucket, having the backhoe attached for a counter weight. I can take off either the loader or backhoe in 5 minutes and attach any skid loader attachment in front or 3 point implement in the back. It is a great machine. It is a construction JD (yellow), not a farm tractor (green)."
"I've had my 110 TLB model number LV0110T21XXXX for just over a decade now and I love this tractor. It has been very reliable and problem free. I purchased it new and have just shy of 1000 hours on it. It doesn't have auxiliary rear hydraulics, seventh function on backhoe, or thumb. If I were to do my purchase over, I should have shelled out the extra money at the time to get these options since I'm basically stuck with what I have now. So that I can operate the hydraulics on my 4-basket tedder, I routed one new hydraulic line from the front auxiliary hydraulics to the back which seems to be working fine and the routing seems to be okay as a permanent solution - not really getting in the way of anything. Here are the issues I've had over the years: 1) Broke hydraulic hose connector fitting on backhoe dipperstick. Operator error...raised the stick and bumped it into a horizontal log. I replaced the fitting and hose with a new one. 2) Battery leaked acid into the battery box, pealing paint and starting rust. Probably also operator error letting the battery freeze and/or recharging with battery charger too quickly. I cleaned it up and repainted it. 3) Hour meter reset to 0 after about 200 hours. 4) Turn signal switch is temperamental. Sometimes it doesn't work or lights stick on rather than flash. Punching the side of the area below the switch with my fist usually fixes this. 5) Difficulty getting hydraulic lines attached to front auxiliary hydraulics. Operator error...didn't follow the procedure in the owners manual which left pressure in the implement and/or tractor. 6) I bought a used Bobcat 30C auger (skid steer mount) that turns pretty slowly even at full throttle RPM...almost too slowly to knock the dirt off the auger to clean it. I assume this isn't really a problem with either machine, just that the auger requires higher flow rate for optimal operation than the 110 TLB auxiliary front hydraulics produce. It works okay, it just is slow and requires full throttle. I've heard getting a PA15 or PA30 that is backhoe quick coupler mounted works better because the backhoe hyraulics have more flow than the front loader auxiliary hydraulics. 7) Tractor loses power and dies when going uphill - maybe 50% of the time. I think this started happening after the last time I changed the fuel filter, so maybe operator error as well. I can back up a hill just fine, but if I go forwards up the hill it often dies. Doesn't matter if I have a full tank of diesel or a nearly empty tank. Doesn't matter if I go up the hill at idle or full throttle, though if I let off the peddle soon enough I can avoid it dying sometimes. It might happen more frequently after running the tractor at lower RPMs for a while. If I run it at high RPMs for a while it seems less likely to die going up slope. It has been this way for a year or two now. I haven't yet tried re-installing the fuel filter, but I plan to next time I do maintenance because I assume there must be an air pocket or something causing this."
"This a great unit. John Deere has stopped building the 110TLB replaced it with 4720. I have seen these used as the 110TLB the front axle housing is lighter built and are breaking due to the heavy duty use. The backhoe is also lighter. "
"This is really the best of all worlds---front end slips off and takes over 100 steer skid loader attachments. Backhoe slips off and takes over 300 rear implements. Then with kits you can make your own. It is like a cartoon transformer!"
"I love this little tractor. It's small enough to pull behind my pickup but heavy enough to do some real work. With the grapple I have picked up 30' logs with no problem. I have not had any problems mechanically with it. I have had trouble with the blinkers not working but I know it's the switch and I think they want to much for a new one. I am very disappointed that they don't make a hard cab for it, maybe I just haven't found the correct site yet. with the snow blower kit I put on it I have no problem using my old 8' blower on the front."
"After owning and operating my 110 for 20 years I have come to rely on it for so many chores. From planting trees, moving heavy loads, running a 10' brush hog, and marshalling trailers around the property, my 110 JD backhoe does everything. I have constructed a boom for it that even adds to its flexibility. Pulling out the docks on Conesus Lake prior to Winter is a breeze using this machine. With my clam shell bucket I can pull out brush, old fencing or stack tree limbs. With the forks I can maneuver palletize loads with ease. After owning several previous tractors, my 110 takes the place of many, all in one. Transport on my flatbed adds to versatility."
