"Bought this tractor with 6500 hours on it, does not do a massive amount of work with me, approximately 300 hours per year but has given it's fair share of bother. The radiator has been replaced after having it repaired 3 times. Nearly all the fuel lines have had to be replaced (although arguably this my be to be expected at 6500 hours). The housing for the mechanism that holds the hitch up has 2 bolts which has a tendency to come loose. I found this out the hard way as one day the whole housing cracked costing 100 pound to have the whole thing replaced. The engine turns over a lot before it starts up, I have a feeling this is something to do with the fuel injection system somewhere."
"This is a very nice 2003 John Deere 6420 4x4 farm tractor with cab. This tractor has 640 hours and is powered by a 104 horsepower diesel engine. This tractor has power quad transmission, power reverser, 2 doors, corner post exhaust, heat air radio, 3pt hitch with 540 shaft PTO, and 420/85 R38 R-1 rear tires."
"Tractor has not been to the shop for anything. I change oil and fuel filter every 300 hours. We run 1460 disk mower and 556 JD baler. Pull 5 bottom plow and 14 ft. Disk. Hydralic are fast and have plenty of power. Spread 250 ton a lime with a 5 ton stolzus spreader. Does a great job!"
"I use this tractor every day. I ranch and farm about 785 acres. I feed with it, bale hay with it and clear brush with it. I've thought about buying another but I think first I'm going with a compact tractor a JD 3032E. I need a small one for the barn and cow lots. I also have a 1966 JD 3020. I use it for fence building, a backhoe attachment, post hole digger and anything else, it also is a great tractor. I have had one problem with the 6420. The shifter range buttons no longer work, I'm sure a small detail but finding time to send it in is a problem."
"Have this MFD 6420 with 640 loader, cab with the shuttle shift. I also have a 5520 MFD w/cab at 516 hours Both are great tractors, they sit in the barn most of the time, but are always ready when needed."
