"Not the machine for doing a lot of front-end loader work. The constant shifting took a bit to get used to. I found the right range on the transmission and now just use two and reverse. I have wheel weights and it is not at all hard to get a full bucket on the front-end loader. I notice the weight immediately. The hydraulics are not set up for end loader work. Getting more than two cylinders to operate at the same time is too much to expect. The John Deere 49 backhoe works just fine. Again not a production machine. Does everything I need and am happy with the fact I rarely pull the throttle over 1800 rpms."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Solid work horse Cons: Hydraulics, and the quirky transmission Type of User: Homeowner 1-10 Acres Location: USA AZ I also considered buying:

"Overall, I'm pleased with the tractor. It's equipped with cab and front loader. Two complaints are it would be nice if one of the side windows opened to add ventilation. I've had problems with the draft control where rock shafts drift down and jerk back up under load. Dealer wasn't able to fix. Otherwise a great tractor. "

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Great power, reliable, fuel efficient, good turning radius. Cons: Rock shaft drift under load. Type of User: Homeowner 50-100 Acres Location: USA PA I also considered buying:

Model year: 2000 Date Purchased: 2011-04-20 Number of Hours: 7000

"Just bought a used JD 5510 with PowrReverser and MFWD, and 3 rear scv's. 93hp and 8000 +/- lbs. I had also bought a 540 self-leveling loader w/ forks, and a 10a backhoe that came off a friends 5300. I had to modify the brackets for the loader as the tractor is longer (factory brackets were $3400... wow)$1200 to have the 5300 brackets modified and strengthened. My first experience in pricing green painted parts. The tractor handles the loader with ease, moving anything I need from 3000lb logs, round bales, to pallets of rock. The PowrReverser trans is great! You only need to clutch to release the park lock and the occasional shift. Have yet to disc or cultivate but can't wait to put it to the test. I'm betting on at least a 10' disc, and maybe a 15' cultivator. Many more hours to go with a 1000 more chores so don't be afraid to ask! JT"

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Lots of power, Good on fuel (50L/10hrs). Cons: No cab...oh well, hot in summer and cool in winter. Type of User: Homeowner 50-100 Acres Location: CND OT I also considered buying: John Deere 5300, John Deere 5400

"I've got 2900 hours on my 5510 now, bought it with about 1,200 on it. Tractor has cab and radio, ac, heat and hydraulic valves. Most of my complaints are with the bouncy seat but I'm told it's either that or a new back bone in a few years. Pretty comfortable for a cab tractor made in 2000. My dealer has been a great resource for parts and service that I cannot do on my own."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Cab is real nice in the summer Cons: Bouncy seat Type of User: Homeowner 50-100 Acres Location: USA WV I also considered buying:
