"I experience with the JD 4700 utility tractor has been good. The only common problem I have had is the tractor not cranking after it has been used doing PTO work, rotary cutter. I spins the engine good but no fuel. Apparently, it is the thermistor which I read about on TBN site. This tractor is very handy and strong. The front end loader with bucket and forks makes this a must for my property. I store it at my father's house which is next to my property. My father uses this tractor way more than I do. He said if I were to keep it at my house 30 miles away, he would have to go buy one."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Agile and strong. Cons: Not cranking due to thermistor, $4 part. Type of User: Homeowner 100+ Acres Location: USA SC I also considered buying:

"I have owned this tractor for just over 1 year now. I purchased it used off of Craigslist. I have had absolutely no problems out of this machine. It is 4WD so traction is awesome and the power available is more that enough for my use. It has a 460 loader on it and it performs great. Plenty of lifting power to move just about anything you want. The tractor is very easy to do general maintenance on and the loader can be safely removed or installed in less than 10 minutes. This may be the last tractor I ever own! Well, unless I pick up an antique on the way...:)"

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Power, ease of use, traction, comfort. Cons: None. Type of User: Homeowner 10-50 Acres Location: USA GA I also considered buying:

"I purchased this tractor from the original owner in 2010. The man had ordered the tractor new in 2001 trading in a 4400 at the time. He sold his farm before the new 4700 arrived at the dealer Renoylds Farm Machinery, in Noblesville, IN. He went ahead and took delivery of the tractor but never had a chance to use it since he had retired and moved into a house in town. So as luck would have it after keeping it in a garage for the last ten years and starting it regularly, he decided to put it up on craigslist in Indiana. When I purchased the tractor it had 33 hours on it and not one scratch on the paint! As close to brand new as you could get ! I bought this tractor to replace my aging 430 case and looking for a 4x4 with a loader. This tractor is more than enough for my 5 ft bush hog and does great with a 7 foot grader box on my 1/4 mile drive way. I was hesitant at first about the hydro transmission preferring a power shuttle but for the price of this tractor I couldn't pass it up. That being said, the hydro it great for loader work as well as working in tight spots so I'm very happy with it.The tractor has just now turned 100 hours on the meter so hopefully it will be a long time before it requires any repair. "

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Easy to manuver in tight spots, very smooth hydro transmission, strong hydraulics, comfortable to operate. Cons: Reverse pedal could be better designed for comfort, the loader joy stick gets in the way of your right leg when you turn around to look behind you while backing up, cruise control should have been designed for better incremental adjustments. Type of User: Homeowner 1-10 Acres Location: USA IN I also considered buying: Bobcat CT445, Kioti DK45, New Holland Boomer TC45A

"Had it for 10 years. Very low hours due to my peculiar situation. The only problem I had was the utterly absurd interlock switch with the Power Reverser lever. Had to wire across it when it was brand new to get it started. Dealer replaced switch. Happened a few times later. Factory actually states that if you replace the switch and it does not work, try another one. Unbelievable! It is sensitive enough to in/out position in transmission that re-seating it sometimes works. They send about 4 or 5 thickness shims to try with each new switch. Great tractor all around. Used on very steep ground, mostly bush hogging. Great brakes. Starts with hardly one rev of the engine even in cold weather. Did have to use the primer pump in later years once in a while to get started due to leak in fuel line I could never find. Half the bolts on the thing will eventually vibrate loose! You better check tightness every 200 hours or so. Including left side wheels -- lug bolts will get loose. The 12 sp trans is about perfect for the machine. Had "pinch bucket" on the FEL which is great for cleaning up an old farm. The loader could use more lift capacity (part of reason for wanting bigger machine.) The Deere MX6 bush hog is essentially indestructible. Pulverized many a rock. Extremely reliable. Plastic tube protecting the 4wd shaft wore itself out in no time. Useless. The 4wd shaft rattles in the splines, always did, and makes you think the whole thing is coming apart in higher gears (on road, etc.) Can't imagine why anyone would buy the 4500 or 4600 lower HP versions of the same frame. Only got rid of it due to desire for bigger machine. "

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Reliability, brakes, & engine. Cons: Idiot who designed the Forward / Reverse interlock switch. Type of User: Homeowner 50-100 Acres Location: USA WV I also considered buying:
