"Purchased this tractor for a smaller 20 acre place we own, was my 1st tractor. The tractor has been great, no complaints and zero issues. I need to set the wheels out on it (which I have not yet done) but it has been a great tractor."

"We own a couple of places with a total of slightly over 50 acres. We use our tractor for shredding, plowing, dragging, lifting and spreading. We have a quick attachment accessory added which greatly simplifies the use of the different attachments. Attachments used are a shredder, plow, bucket, forklift forks and hare. We have laid down gravel roads, loaded trash, lifted hay bales, pallets of supplies, shredded, worked the arena, spread sand etc and the 5045 has done everything we have needed. We debated going to the 5055E or 5065E but decided to try the 5045E. We have not run into any task that made us think we should have gone for the higher horsepower models."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Great customer service, no warranty issues to speak of. Very versatile and dependable tractor. Cons: Slightly pricier than some brands. Type of User: Homeowner 10-50 Acres Location: USA TX I also considered buying:

"This tractor was a great value for a John Deere. It's a basic machine with a few benefits as compared to the "D" model. I highly recommend!"

"I had a 2009 John Deere 4005 and traded for this 5045E. I wanted a bigger tractor with more loader lift capacity/breakout force and the synch shift transmission. I am very satisfied with this tractor. Comfortable seat adjustments, plenty of power for a 6' brush hog, maneuverable, and good field of view. The internal rock shaft valve had to be replaced at 50 hours as it was defective. The dealer fixed it under warranty immediately though. Maintenance seems to be simple and it is very fuel efficient. Mine is kept in the shop, but I would put a coolant heater on it if it was housed outside. The air box heater works fine in my climate. I debated on tires when I purchased this tractor and settled on standard R1 8.3X24 front and 13.6X28 rear. I wish now that I had spent the extra money and bought larger R1 or even R4 tires. My property is new to me and I use it for various yard projects, clearing land, and road maintenance. The smaller R1s leave ruts but traction is good! Very stable tractor on the slopes on my property. I wear the retractable seat belt and feel in control. I grew up on a farm in Iowa and green was my tractor of choice. I retired from the Marine Corps a few years ago in the heavy equipment field so owning a John Deere was my dream. You will pay a little more for the green paint, but I'm OK with that for fulfilling my dream!"

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Fuel economy. Power. Comfort. Size and stablity. Cons: I do not like the right side dismount area. The location of the loader hyd. control lever makes it awkward to dismount from the right. The front wheel assist engage lever is also awkward to manipulate. Type of User: Homeowner 10-50 Acres Location: USA MO I also considered buying: Kubota L3830, New Holland Boomer 8N
