"Can't buy the model any more. Used only. Have one diesel and one gasoline both with backhoes. Have IH 504 row crop gasoline also. As with any old equip, don't try to do a tablespoon full of work with a teaspoon."
"I was searching for a tractor to use on some property & home I had just purchased. A good mower is what I was after, during my search the shop foreman at Hoober's in Seaford DE told me about a tractor they just got in. I spoke with the salesman, and bought this tractor with a front end loader, and a 72" Bushhog finish mower. "
"I purchased the tractor intending to use it as a utility tractor for mowing, driveway upkeep, snow removal, and minor excavating around the farm. I was disappointed when I realized how primitive the PTO is, no clutch and not live, simple in-out box, and shuts down when I shift. The tractor was fairly well used, but had, within the last 500 hours, seen some major hydraulic work and seemed to run okay. So far I have experienced some hydraulic issues and fuel system problems. I'm working my way through them and I think the loader is really tough, "bullet proof". I'm finding the tractor very difficult to work on because of the huge frame for the loader. There are hydraulic fittings that would be impossible to deal with without pulling the frame off the tractor. The tractor does feel very stable on hilly terrain and the loader works very well. Mine has the Drott clamshell loader, and I think this will be very handy. I also realize that the tractor was designed to have a backhoe attached and therefore isn't optimized for utility work on a farm. "
"I am restoring this one owner, (I'm the second owner) 3414 backhoe to be fully functional to use around the property. I do not like oil leaks, loose pins or any part that does not work correctly. So I have been fixing every thing that requires attention. As with any equipment poor design requires modifications so time and money is well spent. The diesel engine is a good one to have. As with any project if its worth fixing, it's worth fixing right."
