"Tractor has been fairly reliable until lately with failed? electric PTO clutch. Replaced the drive belt after 200 hours. 54" mower deck is nice and does a good job mulching."
"I bought this mower from Lowes. I told them I was replacing a mower, that the hydro-static trans had failed. I was informed that this tractor had a heavy duty trans. While mowing last week, I was circling a tree when the left rear wheel fell off. A broken axle. The trans is a Tuff Torq K46 that I have found out is in no way heavy duty. I have never had an axle break. Also have had to weld the hangers on the deck which cracked. Luckily this isn't my weekly mowing tractor but a spare. Funny how my spare is broken more than my weekly use one."
"Bought this tractor at Lowe's---convinced them to give me 10% off even without a coupon, so the value was excellent. It's WAY over-sized for our 1-acre place (only about 1/2 acre of grass), but we needed the biggest thing we could get in the $2K range for snow removal at our cabin. We also bought a Berco Northeast model 44" snowblower attachment from Lowe's (another discount). This machine mows our grass all summer long at home without even hiccuping. It's a ridiculously quick job now. Then, in November, we haul it up to our cabin in the mountains, hook up the snowblower, tire chains, and home-made rear weight system, and it clears the driveway up there when we visit in the winter. Last winter was our first with it, and there was very little snow, so it really hasn't been tested with deep stuff. It's pretty easy to pull the deck and swap to the snowblower---maybe a 20 min. job. It takes longer to install the tire chains than anything else. They're a pain, but they do work well. Maintenance has been easy so far (just an oil change), and nothing has broken. I wouldn't want anything bigger without power steering, as it's weight gives a fair amount of resistance to steering. The hand-operated hydro-stat control is precise, but requires some quick moves when trying to control speed, snowblower height, and chute angle all at once."
"I live in south central Texas and we've been in a severe drought for years. Because of that, I haven't had to cut grass very often in the past 4 years; hence only 93 hours on the clock cutting 5 acres. Now, the tractor has lost momentum and actually stops on small inclines. Doing a search, I've found that others have experienced the same problem. A new transaxle is $600; I'm not sure about a rebuild, haven't checked. It's out of warranty at 4 years, but at only 93 hours, Husqvarna should replace it. Knowing this now, I would never buy another tractor with this transaxle: TUFFTORQ K46 AW."
