"I've only had my 4400 for a couple of months. I have not had much chance to use it yet due to limited availability to my farm. We just bought 12 acres and have to get a driveway cut through a virtual swamp to not have to cut through my neighbors land. I have used the tractor on a couple of occasions so have an initial feel for how it works. The tractor seems to have a lot of nice features, but I haven't been able to use any yet. I think this thing sat outside a lot because it shows quite a bit of wear for 1100 hours. Engine starts right up every time. The Category 2 3 pt hitch threw me initially, but now I'm just searching for the best way to hook to my Category 1 implements. Bushings don't always work and its tough to change my plow pins since they are cast in. This was a very good value for a 64 hp tractor. I won't need many of the features like the foot throttle or the self leveling 3 pt. I just want the front loader, 3 pt hitch and pto to work. I'll come back when I've pushed it a little more."

"My Ford 4400 gas with Ford Series 735 front end loader has served me well. I have put on better than 400 hours on it since buying it used. I was at first skeptical about the 3 cylinder Ford engine, expecting it to be underpowered. It is definitely not underpowered at all and has lots of low end torque. Mine has the six speed transmission with three speeds up and three speeds down, plus two reverse up and two reverse down. Despite being a "utility" type tractor which is about the same as light industrial, it has both three point system plus 540 rpm pto. The non-adjustable front axle is extremely heavy and well suited for heavy loader work. The loader is very well made and has more lifting power than the tractor is capable of handling. The Ford 4400 gas is probably not the least expensive tractor to operate considering its size. The engine is 201 cubic inches and uses a fair amount of gasoline under load. But while it burns a fair amount of gasoline, it also does a lot of work for its size and cost. It requires minimal maintenance and requires no pampering. It is well built and other than normal wear and tear items, I have not had to spend very much keeping it going. It will travel on the road at near 25 mph, making it easy to go between work locations quickly. "

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Cons: Poor guages, no live PTO, a bit difficult to service with loader frame in the way, parts from New Holland are expensive.
