"Nice size tractor for homeowner with a few acres. Has a Ford 770A Front end loader and a Woods 750 backhoe and handles both well. Have also used it with a Woods landscape 7 foot rake. Very reliable tractor with no serious problems to date. At this time we are experiencing hydraulic leaks primarily on the backhoe, but some on the tractor that we are going to repair. Only failure to date has been the clutch linkage which was an easy inexpensive repair. If you own a 1310 and haven't replaced the clutch linkage, you may want to take a close look at it. Not being able to disengage the clutch most likely won't cause any problems to an experienced operator; but a novice could get into trouble with it. Very economical to run. Can run for a very long time on a 7 gallon tank of diesel fuel. Sorry I don't have a more specific fuel burn rate to offer. "

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Very maneuverable, lots of traction with Ag tires, very reliable. Cons: . Type of User: Homeowner 1-10 Acres Location: USA FL I also considered buying:

"Twitched at the wrong moment and bougth an old Ford 1310 as-is on an ebay auction. $2,400 and freight from southern PA to northern. The 4x4 remains in-op as it was on arrival, the limited slip doesn't work and the rear axle seems to be developing a little whine. I've added a Ford loader, a couple used rear tires, and have had a couple hundred hours use in the ten years we've been together. The engine and tranny seem fine and I've serviced the tractor regularly. It has served me well and without any major expenses. I use it to pull a 4' TSC brush hog and a used 5' woods finish mower. A TSC boom pole made handling logs for fire wood a much easier old-back job, and the loader has saved it's fair share of aches and sweat."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Always starts, doesn't use oil or a/f, easy maintenance. Cons: No 4x4. Type of User: Homeowner 1-10 Acres Location: USA PA I also considered buying:

"I have been able to get an incredible amount of work out of this tractor. Use it mainly to mow the meadows and to cull the fallen trees and limbs from the woods on and surrounding my property. I use the wood for firewood. "

Best Small Utility Tractor for Average Person

"I couldn't maintain without my Ford 1310 tractor for my regular small farming and all landscaping qualities you could ask for in a small 4-wheel drive tractor. Dad always says I ride the tractor too much, but I enjoy it so much for my country lifestyle. I sell vegetables out of my several gardens each season and ride it to the ends of our property lines watching for a big deer. I plant food plots for the wildlife also and keep all weeds and briars cut down with my squealer bush hog. When dad bought the tractor back in 1990, he got lucky that the seller had several attachments to go with it: a bush hog, rotary tiller, grass lawn cutter, turning plow, roadscrapper, subsoiler, homemade row furrower, front end loader, and a set of harrows. Good deal it was. The previous owner has even offered to buy it back a couple of years back. I would definitely say this kind of tractor is strong for its size and just about any yard work you need done is easily done. Have had just minor trouble with starting, but that's normal with any tractor."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Strong pulling, four wheel drive with all a man needs. Cons: Steering a little tough if bucket load is down. Type of User: Homeowner 10-50 Acres Location: USA GA I also considered buying:

"My dad bought this Ford 1310 compact 4-wheel tractor back in 1990. I've always been interested in gardening and eating that fresh veggies that come out of that Georgia clay. This compact tractor does all I need for it to do. We got 6 attachments that came with so I was ready for anything. I have been dragging tree logs as big as 3 ft. diameter 10 ft. long with the 4-wheel drive in action. It may take a little longer to bush hog a big field because of its size, but makes up for it in plowing. It's perfect for the landscaper or small farmer who the neighbor's want their gardens plowed yearly. That front end loader makes everything easier. Dad complains to me sometimes that I ride the tractor too much. Of course I'm a big ol' boy that likes shortcuts. Just right for most do-it-your-selfers."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Strong pulling, compact size for any landscaping. Cons: Can make you lazy if you need to walk a little more. Type of User: Commercial Farmer Location: USA GA I also considered buying: Ford 1310

"Purchased used from owner for $4,600. Included Ford 5ft brush mower and Ford front end loader. Tractor is 3 cylinder diesel. Used most for field mowing with some hilly areas. Previous tractor (1949 Ford 8N) had poor brakes and would slip out of gear going down steep slopes. The 1310 solved that problem."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Plenty of power. Will mow high field grass/weeds going up steep slopes with no problem. Runs great and has needed no repairs. Cons: None. Type of User: Homeowner 1-10 Acres Location: USA MD I also considered buying:

"All in all it's a great little tractor. It always starts even in the dead of winter -20F. Make sure you always use the glow plug assist. NEVER USE ETHER! It's a good light duty machine. Mine has a 770b loader which is almost too much for the tractor. If you get one power steering is a must with the loader. It has plenty of power and gears. I haven't used it with a brush hog. But it does other tasks like spraying, post holes and blading without pause. It will push more snow in 4WD than you can get hold of. It is really great for clearing snow because it can get into small places and is never at a loss for traction. It runs circles around my neighbor's 8N. The loader is easily removed providing you have the kickstands. It will lift quite a bit but the front tires really grunt with a fully crowded bucket of wet dirt. I have killed the sidewall of one tier already. Hopefully I can get heavier tires to avoid repeats. Get something to move and dump the dirt if you have a larger job. Hauling dirt very far seems to stress this thing. Mine needed an, almost impossible to find, steering assembly... Don't bother looking for repair parts. You'll have to live with a salvaged assembly. Plan to spend around 600 bucks for a replacement. I also had to re-drill and tap the motor bolt mounts. Someone literally broke the tractor in half. The last owner said he'd tried to haul round bales with it. What he failed to mention is that the frame broke in half and had to be welded back together. Maintenance is fairly straight forward. Most of the fill ports are easily accessible except for the steering column. That takes a little finesse. Oil changes are a snap. The filters are available at NAPA and much cheaper than NH. Get an I&T manual!"

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Plenty of power and traction. Fuel goes forever. Cons: On the light end of the compact tractor spectrum. Type of User: Homeowner 10-50 Acres Location: USA OK I also considered buying:

4 X 4 Ford 1310 - One Tough Little Tractor...

"I use this tractor for skidding and loading logs up to 20" in diameter and 12 feet long, I use a 300 lb weight box on back. Any logs bigger than that I use a Ford 7500. I also use the 1310 to plow the drive way and have a variety of 3 point attachments for landscaping work. I have even temporarily welded an I beam onto the loader and used it as a ripper to install underground cable in tight areas. It did impressively well, it sure beats a pick axe! This little tractor runs reliable and takes a beating and stays together just fine. I have used this little guy to do some things you would never imagine such a small machine can do. There are times when I think I'm gonna break it and yet it has put up with my abuse for 10 years now. I do perform maintenance on a regular basis and stay on top of things before the break, but that is what I do with all the machinery I own. I might run 'em hard but I stay on top of things too. Overall I have been happy with the machine."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Double clutch, very tough, can skid logs in the tight woods. Cons: Front wheels are smallish and wear fast with loader, more power! Type of User: Homeowner 50-100 Acres Location: USA CT I also considered buying:

"My dad and I purchased this tractor new. As a young man I put it thru some trials. It has been steady and strong the whole time. We have mostly mowed with it but some light logging and brush clearing too. The 4wd option is a must have on a small tractor like this. "

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Small, 4wd, lights are in a good position to light up the work area, not just the front of the unit. Cons: Small. Front knuckle leaks a little oil. Type of User: Homeowner 10-50 Acres Location: USA NC I also considered buying:
