"I love my Ford 9N. It belonged to my Great Grandfather. He bought it used at John C. Stewart in Cuttingsville, Vermont in the early 1950's. It has a Dearborn belly mounted cutter bar. I leave it on the tractor and it works very well for keeping my edges clean. You can't do that with a brush hog. I need a little utility trailer so I can use it for cutting wood. I've towed plenty of smaller logs with it, but with that cutter bar in place, I'm limited where I can take the old girl. The brakes are horrible. Otherwise I love her. I really appreciate that my Great Granddad who died the year I was born (1967) owned it."

"I may be new to buying a tractor but have many years of being a mechanic working on them I have found a small gem in the rough with my 9N even with extremely low compression the little four cylinder will crank easily with all new ignition and wiring systems the hydraulics on ours were brand new and have found them very use full however the weight limit can be reached verily easily other than having to keep fueling up the tractor There is no other problems except for the low oil pressure that comes with the worn engine and normally the first I do is make sure I have enough oil my reason is the worn out bearing and oil pump with large amounts of blow by."

"Bought this well used tractor and equally well used brush hog to clean up about 25 acres of an abandoned orchard. Lots of tall sumac and everything else. Was not easy but got it done. Was getting a lot of blow by so decided to tackle my first overhaul of any engine: pistons, sleeves, valve train, and adjustable lifters. Started right up and ran great for about 5 hrs. Apparently, a previous owner had fixed a cracked block with some substance I have never seen before. Couldn't handle the extra compression, I guess. Found another block and just completed the process for second time. It runs well But have not put it to the test yet. I have learned a lot and actually had fun despite the frustrations. Any ideas on getting the new sleeves out of the old block with out ruining them. I do not have one of those custom made drivers. Thanks."

"I'm very new to both the garden tractor and agricultural tractor thing. I purchased 10 acres of land [7 acres of pasture] in the fall of 2011. I knew I'd be needing a tractor to keep the pasture cut, so I picked up a 1939 Ford 9N. I was told that it was kept out of the weather its whole life, and I'm not surprised---it's very clean and ran great right from the start. I'm planning to pick up a brush hog in the spring and work on the part of the pasture [5 acres] that we don't plan to use as lawn. For the other 2 acres, we started maintaining that with a new Cub Cadet 2100 GTX."

"Brought the 9N with a for sale sign pained on the hood and painted in some awful color of blue and red. Restored what was need and put her to work of cutting about 3 acres a week with a old Land Pride 72" finishing mower picked up an auction and also restored. She has been reliable and fun to use. "

"I had always wanted a Ford tractor because of memories of one that my grandfather owned many years ago. I finally bought a 9N at a local farm auction, drove it home 20 miles, and then overhauled it. I have found that, although the tractor has been very useful on our property over the years, it can be very awkward to use because of the lack of live power and live PTO. Also, I am getting some steering slop that appears to be in the mechanism between the operator's feet, and I am unable to disassemble the (apparently) aluminum dash assembly from the part it sits on to get to the steering gears. The front distributor engine won't start if it is at all damp, and the tractor won't restart if it stalls instead of being turned off. All in all, it is a fun tractor to own on a warm summer day, but not a practical small farm tractor."
