"This was rebuilt when I purchased the tractor. It had new hoses, sleeves, and pistons. The only real problem, after the rebuild, was a blown head gasket. Other than that, it has been a great tractor."
"Great old tractor purchased from a friend, still unsure of year mfg. though have been told several years. Changed PTO seal, oil/plugs, fluids, after noticing they hadn't been changed in who knows when. Trying to find out exact year it was made, it has power assist steering and has been a great tractor. Got a great deal on it including assorted attatchments and covered metal structure. What serial # would I need (location) to find out exact year? Soundman here on the forum has been such a big help with any questions. Very knowledgable about this type tractor. My hat goes off to him for his help. - Randall; Liberty Texas"
"My Ford tractor is very old but very dependable. I have owned it for over 20 years and have done very little work other than tune ups to keep her running. As long as I keep it covered in the rain and in winter it starts up and runs every time. They don't build tractors like this anymore."
"This 58. Ford 601 has plenty of power but really needs power steering when using the superior loader. The axle is a little vulnerable to the Sherman backhoe and was welded at some point. Reverse is too high for loader work and could use a hi/lo trans. A foot throttle might be nice. Plenty of power though. This one is a beast compared to my 8n or Cubs. "
"Great tractor when its running, previous owner did not take maintenance as a necessary, so we are trying to bring tractor up to par."
