"This has been a good little tractor for what I need. The 812 front end loader is excellent and works very well. It moved 30 tons of gravel last week. I do have a problem with the power take-off. Every time it is switched on the fuse blows. I haven't figured that out yet. A dealer said it could be in the clutches, If so, it is about $500.00 to repair. The gauges don't work, but I bought this at an auction and they didn't work then. Other than the power take-off and gauges, I haven't had any problems. The CAT engine is a little hard to start in the winter."
"Tractor has several things I don't like, and several things that are a constant headache. First and foremost is the stupid design of 4 wheel drive, doesn't kick in until the back wheels start to spin, which just makes the front wheels spin along. Stuck, has to slow reverse speed, and forward speed in high could be faster. No individual brakes for each side. Hard starting when cold due to glow plug timeout, need to cycle several times in cold weather. When mowing, deck breaks PTO pin several times a season. Electrical system has failed on and off. Parts are extremely expensive, and not available after market, due to Cub Cadet policy, and dealers. Even lubricants are kept secret to force you to buy from dealer only. Perkins diesel is the only strong point, Should have built a good tractor around it. Owned a Kubota B7100 HST that broke, should have fixed it, it was twice the tractor, fell for new and "improved"."
"I have cleared 10 acres of land with this little tractor. It now works hard mowing grass and making gardens."
"For the most part, has worked well for me. Maybe a little small and under powered for what I wanted/have done with it. Power steering cylinder is the lowest point on tractor and is easily damaged by stumps and rocks. Broke the front axle gear ring, spiders and pinion. Bound up just driving down the driveway, approx 200 hrs on it. CC new about problem, but still had to pay full price for parts and installation, $1,100.00 to fix and down for just over 2 weeks. Just fried the electrical side of the PTO clutch, shorted out. Also took out the PTO switch. Did not blow any fuses. Dealer disassembled tranny top and electrical side of PTO clutch was brown and blue from heat. I mow about 4.5 acres with 3 point finishing mower. Decide to replace the tractor with a Yanmar as we will be clearing more acreage in future."
"We bought a slightly used Cub Cadet tractor that had been repossessed by the bank ($7,000). It had a bent turn push rod, but otherwise has run well except at about 100 hours it failed to start. We think it is a short in the safety circuit. I fixed it by installing a momentary switch on the dash board that engages the starter. I also unplugged the seat switch, which I found annoying. I get off and on constantly, and it was too much work to set and unset the parking brake each time."
"I've enjoyed what this tractor has done for me. It's always performed exactly as expected. The only gripes I have are: No convenient way to attach hydraulic extras, like a log splitter. The dealer that told me to call with questions anytime has not been very helpful. The stickers all fell off( oh well). Noisy"
"A well performing machine, reliable, attachments; 60" mowing deck model: 590-811-100 does have problem with throwing the belt, front loader model: 812 works very well."
