"I do, indeed have a 1070 Case which I just purchased last summer. Since I haven't done much with it other than run my combine I can't really rate it although it seems to work quite well. In addition I have a 930D Case which I purchased in 1980. That tractor has given me excellent service. So far all I've done to the engine is have the heads done but it is time for a ring job. I also replaced the hydraulic pump with a much stronger one from a backhoe and replaced the power steering with hydrostatic from an old Case combine. My favorite tractor is a 1956 ('57?) 555 Massey Harris. This is the 4th old Massey that I repowered with a V8. The first was a 44 with a flathead Ford V8 back in the late '70s. In '98 I repowered a 1949 55 Massey with a Chrysler 360 V8. These engines have too much power for the old, tired drive train so after I wore it out I repowered a 1952 55 with a Chrysler 318. Just last spring I acquired the 555 and installed an industrial 318 from 5542 White/Cochshutt combine. All the Chrysler repower jobs got live dual hydraulics to pull farm machinery and operate the front-end loader and also Case combine hydrostatic steering. Although speeds of over 35 MPH are possible the drive train can't handle that so I try to keep the speed within reasonable limits. This tractor is my chore tractor. It does all my snowplowing, runs my hydraulic wood splitter, moves lumber and logs at my sawmill and also works on the farm. Nobody can buy such a tractor but it does the same work as a much more expensive piece of equipment. "

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Runs cheap, about 2.5 Imp. gallons of gas per hour under full load. Cons: Drive train not quite strong enough for 100 plus horsepower. Power-shift would be nice. Type of User: Homeowner 100+ Acres Location: CND OT I also considered buying:

"Great tractor, this has been our workhorse for many years. It needs a paint job, but still runs great. We had some issue with the gear cover breaking, but that has been fixed. Used mostly to move hay these days."
